Atlantic City Police Use Taser on Naked Man
Police in Atlantic City NJ recently arrested a local man accused of attempting to physically assault a police officer. The suspect was apprehended after law enforcement used a taser to subdue him.
The incident occurred a short time before 5:00 p.m. last Friday. The Atlantic City Police Department received a 911 call about a naked man wandering around near the intersection of Carolina Avenue and Caspian Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Two Atlantic City cops went to the scene and reportedly found the suspect walking around and “showing signs of being under the influence of narcotics.” The suspect was nude and loudly shouting at passersby.
The two AC police officers tried to get the suspect to calm down while a crowd of people gathered around him. According to authorities, the suspect refused to obey the police officers’ commands.
As all of this was happening, other Atlantic City cops and emergency medical crews arrived at the scene to offer assistance. The additional police officers tried to form a wall around the suspect as he moved toward a busy intersection. That’s when the suspect allegedly charged at a police patrol cruiser and began to stomp on the hood. The suspect reportedly followed that up by running full-steam at a police officer. The officer saw that the suspect had his fists clenched, so he used a taser to subdue him. The suspect was subsequently handcuffed and placed under arrest.
A medical crew transported the suspect to nearby AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he received medical treatment.
The suspect was later identified as a 25-year-old resident of Atlantic City, NJ. He has been charged with a number of criminal offenses, including aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility on a $25K bail amount.
